Welcome Dr. Ricardo Altahif

The Baylor University Department of Occupational Therapy would like to extend a warm welcome to Ricardo Altahif, OTD, OTR, CHT.

Ricardo Altahif

Dr. Ricky Altahif serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Baylor University. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Education with an Emphasis on Exercise Physiology from Baylor University (2012) and his Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree from Creighton University (2015). In 2019, he achieved the Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential. He also holds certifications in Fieldwork Education and Hybrid Education.   

Dr. Altahif has extensive clinical experience in the outpatient, acute, and inpatient settings. He has held several leadership roles, including clinical leader for upper extremity rehab and lead for rehabilitation informatics. Prior to coming to Baylor, he served as the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC) for the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and as an Adjunct Professor for Baylor’s Entry-level OTD program. He volunteers his clinical skills at Mission Waco’s Health Clinic, providing OT services to underserved patients in the Waco area. Dr. Altahif is on the Board of Directors for the Texas Society of Hand Therapy and serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Hand Therapy. He is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association, Texas Occupational Therapy Association, and Texas Society for Hand Therapy. He resides in Waco where he enjoys running, reading, and spending time with his family.
