Apply to Become Capstone Faculty Advisor

Baylor University's hybrid Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program is seeking experienced occupational therapy practitioners, leaders, educators, researchers, and innovators to serve as Doctoral Capstone Advisors.

Capstone Advisors serve as adjunct faculty within Baylor's Doctoral Mentorship sequence. During immersive lab experiences, Capstone Advisors review student work, provide feedback, support assessment of course assignments, and share professional expertise as students develop capstone materials under the guidance of the Capstone Chair and Site Supervisor.

Why Serve as a Capstone Advisor?

  • Share your expertise with doctoral occupational therapy students
  • Help students develop meaningful, evidence-based capstone projects
  • Collaborate with Baylor faculty and site supervisors
  • Support projects that address real community and organizational needs
  • Stay engaged with innovation and emerging practice in occupational therapy
  • Contribute to the preparation of future occupational therapy practitioners

What Makes Baylor Different?

A distinctive feature of Baylor's hybrid OTD program is the intentional preparation students receive through a two-course Doctoral Mentorship sequence completed concurrently with Level II Fieldwork.

Students spend two semesters developing a literature review, needs assessment, individualized objectives, methodology plan, and capstone proposal before beginning their capstone experience. Advisors support this process through mentorship, feedback, and participation in immersive lab experiences.

Who Should Apply?

We welcome professionals with an OTD or PhD and expertise in:

  • Clinical Practice
  • Leadership and Administration
  • Program Development and Evaluation
  • Education
  • Advocacy
  • Policy Development
  • Community-Based Practice
  • Faith-Based Initiatives

Capstone Advisors do not need to reside in Waco or Texas. Baylor's hybrid OTD model allows professionals from across the country to mentor students and contribute their expertise.

Time Commitment

Participation includes engagement in two capstone preparation courses and attendance at two lab immersions (travel to Waco required for one).

Specific responsibilities and expectations will be discussed during the application process.
