About Baylor's Hybrid Entry-level OTD Program
Baylor's Entry-level Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program integrates innovative technologies with hybrid learning to equip students to meet the evolving demands of the occupational therapy profession through evidence-informed best practices and hands-on experience.
In just 24 months, students complete online coursework, on-campus lab immersions, fieldwork, and a doctoral capstone—graduating one year earlier than peers in traditional OTD programs. Our hybrid format allows students to live and learn from anywhere in the country, offering flexibility without compromising quality. Our model also enables us to recruit expert faculty from across the United States, ensuring students receive instruction from clinicians and educators with diverse backgrounds and specialties. Additionally, our expansive network of over 5,500 clinical fieldwork sites nationwide allows students to complete their fieldwork placements near their preferred locations, making clinical education more accessible and tailored to individual needs.

What is a Hybrid Entry-level OTD Program Like?
Year One: Students build a strong foundation in occupational therapy through online live class sessions; interactive, on demand coursework; and in-person lab immersions in Waco, Texas.
Year Two: Students gain real-world experience through two full-time, 12-week fieldwork rotations in diverse practice settings. Following this, students complete a 14-week doctoral capstone experience and project, a student-centered experience exploring an area of interest.

Why Pursue a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy?
The OTD prepares students not only for clinical practice, but allows for greater career flexibility, long-term professional growth, and competitiveness in the job market. While a master's degree remains and accepted entry point into occupational therapy, the doctoral capstone provides an unique experience to OTD programs where students explore a specific area of interest, such as program development or research skills.
