Post-professional OTD Doctoral Capstone Projects
The Doctoral Capstone project reflects the synthesis of knowledge, reflective practice, and doctoral-level skills developed during post-professional studies. It is a faculty-mentored, integrative learning experience that relates to the student’s professional portfolio and professional goals. Students demonstrate the ability to synthesize in-depth knowledge in a practice area through development and dissemination of an evidence-based project.
The first Doctoral Capstone course, in a series of three courses, requires development of a capstone plan that includes a literature review, needs assessment, identification of individualized learning objectives, plans for supervision, and an evaluation plan. In the second course students develop the methods and procedures required for implementation and evaluation of the planned capstone project. In the third and final Capstone course, students implement and evaluate the effectiveness of their project including dissemination of results.
