Baylor OTD Congratulates Dr. Kirsten Davin on Her Campaign for AOTA’s Academic Leadership Council - Academic Fieldwork Coordinator Chairperson

Baylor University's Department of Occupational Therapy is proud to announce the candidacy of Kirsten Davin, OTD, OTR/L, ATP, SMS, for AOTA‘s Academic Leadership Council - Academic Fieldwork Coordinator Chairperson. Dr. Davin is a Clinical Assistant Professor within Baylor University's OTD program and is highly experienced in the academic and clinical realms of occupational therapy. 

As the founding Academic Fieldwork Coordinator for Baylor University's Entry-level OTD program, Dr. Davin has developed and managed every aspect of the Level I and Level II Fieldwork curriculum. Her unique experience allows her to understand the challenges associated with seeking out quality fieldwork sites, and she is interested in advancing opportunities in emerging practice settings while maintaining and supporting traditional fieldwork practice settings. 

Dr. Davin is a veteran clinician with nearly 22 years of expertise in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, home health, wheelchair seating and positioning, assistive technology, and orthotics. She holds advanced certifications as a Seating and Mobility Specialist (SMS) and an Assistive Technology Practitioner (ATP), through the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA), as well as the designation of a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) through the National Association of Home Builders. Dr. Davin has also had a distinguished career in education, initially developing web-based and hybrid-learning continuing education programs for a national audience of occupational therapy practitioners. 

In her personal life, Dr. Davin is a proud mother of two girls and has served as an EMT and Certified Firefighter for over 20 years, where she currently holds the position of Assistant Fire Chief in her local volunteer fire department. 

Dr. Davin's campaign aims to identify challenges and opportunities, honor traditional fieldwork settings, advance opportunities in fieldwork education, explore effective methods to prepare students for Level II fieldwork, support and reward fieldwork educators, and advocate for the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator role.
