Regina Gentry: Leading with Purpose

Regina Gentry, OTD, is a dedicated rehabilitation practitioner whose career is committed to clinical excellence and academic inspiration. Her dual roles reflect her deep commitment to the growth of the profession and her belief in the transformative power of occupational therapy.

She holds certification to treat patients living with dementia and neurological disorders. Through this specialized work, Gentry brings a focused and compassionate approach to care.

In addition, Gentry serves as adjunct faculty at Baylor University and the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. Teaching allows her to bring her clinical expertise into the classroom, providing inspiration to aspiring future occupational therapists. Gentry “truly enjoys” an academia environment centered on the occupational therapy profession, and she hopes to dedicate more time to teach in the coming years.

She emphasizes the versatility of the profession. For those considering a similar path, Gentry advises prioritizing specialty areas, focusing on achieving small goals, and being open to learning.

“As occupational therapists, we can work in multiple fields of our practice to stay up to date, connected, innovative, and well-versed to use in our everyday interactions with patients, students, and colleagues,” she said. “Most importantly, continue to remember why you love being an occupational therapist.”
