In Memory of Dr. Isata Sheriff, Class of 2023

February 1, 2025
Graduation portrait of Isata Sheriff.

It is with deep sadness that I share the news of the recent passing of one of our Entry-level OTD alumni, Isata Sheriff, OTD, OTR, who was part of the Class of 2023. She was a cherished member of our program and left an indelible mark on those who knew her.

During this time of loss, I ask that you keep Isata's family and loved ones in your prayers. Let us also take a moment to reflect on the light she brought into the lives of others and the legacy of kindness and joy she leaves behind. We pray for her soul's continued blessing—that Isata is now at peace and held in grace—even as we trust in the words of Matthew 5:4: "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."

May Isata's life inspire us to continue to uplift one another, cherishing the bonds we share as a part of the occupational therapy community and Baylor family. You may also consider joining her classmates as they collect donations in her memory through the Baylor Occupational Therapy scholarship fund. Donations in her honor will be matched up to $10,000 by the Department.

Please join me in sending prayers of strength and peace to Isata's family and friends during this difficult time.

Marian Gillard, PhD, OTR, FAOTA, Clinical Associate Professor, and Chair
