Marian Gillard, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA

Dr. Marian Gillard is Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy at Baylor University. Dr. Gillard joined Baylor in August 2018 and is the founding director of the Doctor of Occupational Therapy programs. Dr. Gillard received her PhD in Psychoeducational Processes with an emphasis in Adult Learning and Organizational Development from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Gillard is a Fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and a member of the World Federation of Occupational Therapy (WFOT) and has served both organizations in numerous capacities, including AOTA leadership positions on the Roster of Accreditation Evaluators and the Representative Assembly.
Dr. Gillard brings extensive industry experience in occupational therapy and is dedicated to educating students to become caring, reflective, evidence-based practitioners. She received the Teaching Award of Appreciation from Moss Rehabilitation Hospital, Philadelphia, PA, and the Certificate of Honor from the Temple University Alumni Federation. Dr. Gillard has a strong teaching background, including extensive student mentorship and teaching at the undergraduate, masters', and doctoral level. Her teaching expertise includes doctoral capstone, research, clinical reasoning, educational theories, adult learning, and adult rehabilitation.
Published in The Occupational Therapy Journal of Research, The American Journal of Occupational Therapy, Topics in Stroke Rehabilitation, and the American Journal of Physical Medicine Rehabilitation, Dr. Gillard has diverse scholarly works, including juried competitions, refereed publications, grant procurement, peer reviewed presentations, and published abstracts.
