Katie Everson, OTD, OTR

Katie Everson serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Baylor University. She earned her Post-Professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy (PP-OTD) degree from Bay Path University in 2021. She earned her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Shenandoah University in 2014. She is certified as a trauma-informed educator from AOTA and micro-credentialed in Adult Mental Health from NBCOT.
Dr. Everson has clinical experience working in mental health, pediatric outpatient, and community practice settings, supporting individuals across the lifespan with a focus on emotional regulation, resilience, and meaningful participation. She has developed and facilitated community mental-health programs, caregiver support initiatives, and group-based wellness interventions rooted in trauma-informed, occupation-centered care. Dr. Everson also maintains involvement supporting women’s health and pelvic wellness, with a commitment to advancing occupational therapy’s role within interdisciplinary maternal and perinatal care.
Dr. Everson has held academic and clinical teaching roles across multiple occupational therapy programs and has served as a mentor for graduate students completing community-based, mental-health, and advocacy-focused projects. She is actively engaged in professional leadership and advocacy, contributing to state and national initiatives focused on mental health promotion and expanding OT’s role in community systems of care. She has presented locally and nationally on mental health, sensory approaches, and trauma-informed practice.
Her scholarly interests center around mental health, sensory-based interventions, and community participation, with a commitment to advancing occupational therapy’s role in supporting mental well-being and equity in access to care.
