Kayla Collins, EdD, MOT, OTR
Clinical Associate Professor, Entry-level OTD Program Director
Kayla Collins is a Clinical Associate Professor and the Program Director for the Entry-Level Doctor of Occupational Therapy program. Dr. Collins earned her Master's in Occupational Therapy (2010) from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences and later went on to earn her Doctor in Education from the same institution (2017). Her dissertation work focused on engaging students in online classrooms through increased instructor presence. She has specialty certifications in hybrid learning and teaching (Evidence in Motion) and fieldwork education (The American Occupational Therapy Association [AOTA]).
Dr. Collins has experience working with older adults in skilled nursing, home health, outpatient, and community-based settings. She continues to practice via telehealth working with older adults across the continuum of care. Dr. Collins has recently served as the Secretary for the Florida Occupational Therapy Association and the Research Coordinator for the Academic and Education Special Interest Section of AOTA. Dr. Collins serves on the Baylor University Faculty Senate and the Teaching, Learning, and Technology Committee. She co-facilitates the Baylor Deep Dive course, supporting faculty development in the area of online and hybrid teaching. Dr. Collins has been published in several peer-reviewed journals and presented at local, national, and international conferences for occupational therapy and education-based research. She resides in Florida with her husband and two children.
